Founders’ Journey - Headed to the Himalayas

Delve into one of the most coveted destinations in the world with Charlotte Travel’s insightful Thimphu Festival itinerary in Bhutan.

Charlotte Travel invites you on an extraordinary eight-day journey to the heart of Bhutan, where the Himalayan kingdom’s ancient traditions and vibrant culture come alive during the Thimphu Festival. This annual event, which dates back to 1670, is a testament to Bhutan’s deep-rooted spiritual heritage and is a must-see for anyone interested in exploring the soul of this mystical kingdom.

The itinerary, meticulously crafted by Charlotte Travel, which is the only Hong Kong travel company to have its own Hong Kong and Bhutanese staff on the ground in the kingdom, begins in Bangkok on September 10, 2024, and is limited to just 16 guests to ensure an intimate and personalized experience.

From there, you’ll embark on a journey to Thimphu, the tiny capital city of Bhutan, where the festival takes centre stage. A celebration of Guru Rinpoche, the founder of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism, the festival features a series of mask dances performed by monks and laypeople. These dances, known as Cham dances, are a blend of sacred and secular, depicting both peaceful and wrathful deities.

One of the highlights of the trip is an exclusive visit to Simtokha Dzong, the oldest dzong or fortress in Bhutan, built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel in 1627 AD. This historic site offers a glimpse into Bhutan’s rich history and architectural heritage. Additionally, guests will have the opportunity to meet revered Rinpoches or religious elders; hike to Wangditse Monastery, home to the awe-inspiring Tashichho Dzong; and participate in a private monk blessing ceremony, a unique and deeply moving experience that is not typically open to the public.

Throughout the trip, guests will stay in handpicked boutique hotels, including The Capital Hotel, Thimphu; RKPO Green Resort Punakha; and the Hotel Kaachi Grand, ensuring comfort and a sense of place. Each day is filled with immersive cultural experiences, from witnessing the mask dances and participating in traditional rituals to exploring the stunning landscapes and meeting the friendly locals.

Priced at HL$45,490++ per person (twin occupancy), the tariff includes accommodation, round-trip airfares from Bangkok, Bhutan tourist fees, selected meals, private tour guides and transfers as well as Charlotte Travel concierges, entry fees, 4G cell service and gratuities.

This is more than just a trip; it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the essence of Bhutanese culture and spirituality. Join Charlotte Travel on this captivating journey to the Thimphu Festival and discover the magic that is Bhutan.
